What is an appeal? - Your way through the appeal process
An appeal in criminal law is an extraordinary legal remedy that focuses exclusively on the legal review of a judgment. Unlike an appeal, no facts are renegotiated, but the court only examines possible legal errors in the judgment. An appeal on points of law is the last opportunity for those affected to have a judgment that they believe to be incorrect corrected. If the appeal is successful, the judgment is set aside and the case is referred back for a new hearing. Careful preparation and implementation of an appeal requires sound legal knowledge and many years of experience.
